Tues – 29th May – More Metric Conversions

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: To convert between he most common metric prefixes

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You will be able to convert between any of the common metric measurements of length, volume and weight

LESSON: Work through This lesson with the students

Let them continue with the metric conversion tasks. Add the Two MyMaths Homework Tasks

SHAPE – CONVERTING UNITS – Metric Conversions and Converting Measures as an assessment of understanding of the whole converting units section.

PLENARY: Check all tasks completed are signed off on their lists.

Tues 22nd May Metric system, Converting between metric Lengths

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: Understand the basics of the metric system and be able to convert between the more common measures of length (mm, cm, m and Km)
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will understand how the basics of the metric system and will be able to convert between mm, cm, m and kms
ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITY: Using the table of measurements I have given you (and is on page 430) decide which metric unit you would use to measure the 15 items in Ex 20A on page 431 – Check answers / discussion

LESSON:

Show how the units of length relate to each other using a staircase (kms at the top, mm at the bottom – Hand out copies of staircase. Lots of examples.


 

Working through the list of tasks for Metric Conversion: Complete each sheet of questions then mark your work. Sign and date your checklist. Then get the next worksheet.

Mon 21st May – Names and properties of 2d Shapes

LEARNING
OBJECTIVE: To Learn the names and discover the properties of different triangles and all quadrilaterals

SUCCESS
CRITERIA: You will know and remember the names of shapes and be able to list properties of a shape

STARTER:  Can you name all the shapes on the worksheet

LESSON:  Use screens 1,3 4 & 5 from this Lesson to learn the names of triangles and how to describe their properties

Then use this Lesson to explore the properties of quadrilaterals, Use the clue game over and over again

Use this worksheet and flowchart to name the quadrilaterals by looking at their properties Quadrilaterals Sorting Flowchart Sheet

Fri 18th May - Test review and Analysis

LEARNING OBJECTIVE: TO review the test results and look at some model answers to some of the questions
SUCCESS CRITERIA: You will understand why you got questions wrong, and know how to get them correct in the next test.
STARTER: Hand out test results and give students time to talk about, ask questions their results
LESSON: Show them the grades that their results are worth and then spend time going through questions on the exam papers – encourage them to come to IWB and do the explaining where possible.
Use exercise books and test papers to write down explanations and model answers to questions
PLENARY: Write down ONE topic to revise before the end of next week, for me to set a homework on.
